SHOWDANCE

Showdance is literally what it says “on the tin” i.e. choreography for presentation in the School’s musical productions. A  major component of musical production is the dance element, and these classes provide ideal training in dance for stage performance.

As Showdance is not a pure dance lesson as such, then the ability of those in the groups can vary greatly.

Showdance classes are taught by professional choreographer Karen Halliday.

Please note that these classes can only be taken by BSPA students already studying Drama.

Performance opportunities

BSPA prides itself on its many performance opportunities, be they professional or in-house. Furthermore, we are proud of the fact that the School has now earned the accolade of being the largest and most successful young peoples’ Musical Theatre School in the West Country. Our involvement in professional productions now runs well into double figures, with more on the horizon.

BSPA in association with its sister School, Bristol School of Dancing has provided young dancers for Bristol Hippodrome pantomimes for in excess of fifty years. We believe that studying Showdance can help with becoming successful in auditions for theatre performance.

If you require specific dance class…

BSPA also offer classes in Ballet and Tap. Our individual dance classes cover training in the various forms of dance and carry the ability to take exams in the grades of ballet, tap and modern dance. The School operates both the RAD and the ISTD syllabus.
