What we do in class: Our older students continue to gain confidence in their group and solo drama work.
During the year, our students work hard to prepare for the in-house show which is performed in our in-house White Hart theatre. This is an excellent opportunity for them to show all they’ve learned and experience performing to an audience on stage for the first time.
Students are taught how to respond to stage direction and learn a variety of techniques required to become a performer. Topics can include:
Improvisation- Theatre games and group activities allowing students to build their own characters and create their own stories. An important part of drama training which encourages exploration of a variety of theatre techniques and helps to build confidence.
Script work- Group scenes, duologues and monologues from old and modern plays.
Musical Theatre- Learning a variety of song and dance pieces from well known musicals in preparation for performance. Encouraging solo performances for those that wish.
Mime, movement, radio, acting for television and presenting are some other areas of performing arts also explored.
