Senior School Teacher: Philippa Howard
Phillppa’s decision to be an actor was made at six years old after watching the musical Annie. After attending Arts Ed, Tring Park, she secured the title role in the British tour of Annie.
After continuing her training at Arts Ed, Chiswick, where she was also a Ballet coach for the Junior associates. Philippa mixed performing with her love of travel, working across the globe, dancing and singing. But her greatest passion saw her return to training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 2008.
Philippa has worked extensively in the theatre, in straight drama and comedy, Shakespeare, musical theatre and variety. Her TV and film includes parts in Casualty, The House of Elliot, Wycliffe, Eris, Rabbit’s Foot and Flying Blind. Also more recently she has worked in children’s theatre, Radio, commercials, voiceover and puppetry. She also still occasionally works as a dance teacher and choreographer.
In 2011 she was awarded The Actors’ Guild Bursary. She is also on the audition panel for the Professional Acting courses at BOVTS.
Despite being a full time tutor for BSPA during the last five years as well as a private tutor specialising in preparation for Drama College, Philippa is fiercely ambitious and committed to strengthening her body of work in both film and television and continuing her theatrical work, attending workshops and classes with the knowledge you never stop learning.
